Do I need a referral?
To get treatment: In Washington, patients have direct access to Physical Therapy, so no physician referral is typically needed unless your specific insurance plan requires it. However, if you have already seen a doctor and have a referral, please bring it with you.
To get reimbursed for services: Potentially. Your specific insurance plan may require a referral or pre-authorization for PT, so it is best to check with your plan directly to see if this is needed for your care.
Do you take insurance?
No. Move Well, Be Well PLLC is a cash-based physical therapy practice, which gives me the flexibility to address your needs in a more in depth, personalized way rather than be limited by what is allowable or payable by insurance. However, a receipt will be provided to you on a monthly basis (or at the end of each visit if you prefer), and you can self-submit this to your insurance towards any potential out-of-network deductible and/or benefits that your plan may allow and your insurer will reimburse you directly. Reimbursement will vary per plan and is not guaranteed.
Unfortunately, I am not able to see patients with Medicare unless it is for a wellness or Craniosacral visit.
How is payment handled?
Payment is collected at the time of service unless other arrangements have been agreed upon in advance.
Cash, check, credit card, FSA/HSA cards, and Zelle are accepted forms of payment.
What can I expect at an initial evaluation?
It is important for me to not just understand your pain and goals, but the different factors that may be hindering change and healing. A 1.5 hour initial evaluation will try to dive into this via a detailed examination of the history of current and past injury and stressors; an assessment of your alignment, movement patterns, strength, and mobility, etc. Afterwards, a preliminary treatment may be performed once sufficient information is gathered (time permitting) and a plan of care will be discussed, including exercises that can help you maintain adjustments and create healthier position and movement habits.
Please complete the following forms / paperwork, or plan to arrive 15 minutes early to your appointment to maximize our appointment time together.
How many visits?
Frequency will be discussed after an evaluation is performed. Typically patients are seen 1-2x a week for the first 4-6 weeks, depending on acuity and response to treatment. Then 1x every week for 4-6 weeks, progressing to 1x every 2-4 weeks, depending on the complexity / chronicity of the injury and number of body parts / systems involved. Typical sessions are 1 hour, but this can be adjusted to fit your schedule, body and financial needs.
Your active participation is essential for best results, even when the acuity of pain resolves. Many times this is when patients stop doing their exercises and/or seeking treatment, but this is usually the best time to assess and address the root issue(s) driving an acute / recurring problem. As we see how your body responds to treatment, your sessions will be tailored to better fit your needs and empower you towards lasting change. In doing so, more can to be done in fewer sessions in the long run.
What should I wear?
Please wear (or bring) comfortable clothes that allow for ease of movement, postural visibility, and access to treatment areas.
